New Official Partner for the 11th Conference of Youth: the Italian Climate Network
The first weeks of December are to be decisive for the global fight against climate change: all leaders and decision-makers will meet in Paris for the United Nations’ 21st Conference on Climate Change (COP21), with the objective of coming for the first time in history to a global binding agreement with commitments to curb greenhouse gas emissions.
In order to give this historical event a good start, young people from all over the world will meet up in Paris right before the summit, during the 11th Conference of Youth (COY11), from November 26th to 28th. Together, they will learn and share ideas about issues and solutions, and show the world that they can make a change.
Although the core of this event takes place in France, it is meant to be organized as inclusively and interactively as possible, with the support of a variety of international partners. This is the best way to enhance the outreach of the event and maximize synergies between participants. Local COYs are also to be organized in other countries, with interconnected workshops and events, for people who can’t make it to Paris and to reduce the carbon footprint of the event.
The latest major partner in the organization of COY11 is the Italian Climate Network, which has been persistently involved in climate negotiations over the last years. The ICN and the organizers of the COY will combine forces to spread the word and mobilize the youth in Italy. They will be essential partners to reach people within and beyond the circle of committed climate activists.
This partnership will help raise awareness about the climate issue and make the statement of the COY stronger: young people are ready to shift to a more climate-friendly system.
